Chief Osita Chukwu, National Coordinator of the Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders, Importers, and Exporters Coalition (SNFFIEC), has strongly condemned the petition filed by Alhaji Tanko’s 100% Compliance Team with the National Security Adviser (NSA). The petition, which alleges wrongdoing in the maritime sector, has been labeled as misleading and baseless by Chief Chukwu.
Chief Chukwu accused Tanko, a customs agent and freight forwarder, of breaching protocol and undermining the efforts of the Nigerian maritime sector’s leadership. He emphasized that the petition gives a false impression of problems in the port corridor, which is not true.
Chief Chukwu also questioned the legitimacy of the 100% Compliance Team, stating that such a team cannot exist outside the framework of an officially recognized association or government directive. He urged stakeholders to focus on collaborative efforts to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of Nigerian ports, rather than being distracted by unfounded allegations.
The SNFFIEC leader concluded by encouraging the maritime community and the general public to disregard the claims made by Tanko’s 100% Compliance Team and continue supporting legitimate efforts to enhance Nigeria’s maritime sector.
In a statement, Chief Chukwu said: “This petition is not just a breach of protocol; it’s an abuse and neglect of the systems we have put in place. It gives a false impression to the world that there are problems in our port corridor, which is simply not true.”
He added: “Tanko has a history of making baseless claims, and we have warned him multiple times. If someone seeks equity, they must come with clean hands. Tanko’s actions are far from that.”
Chief Chukwu’s statement comes after Tanko’s 100% Compliance Team filed a petition with the NSA, alleging wrongdoing in the maritime sector. However, Chief Chukwu has dismissed the allegations as unfounded and misleading.
