Despite the country’s precarious security situation, Nigerians have yet to fully adopt globally recognized security engineering technology to combat crime and protect lives and assets, according to Dr. Mustapha Kazeem Lusty, a prominent security engineer.
In an exclusive interview with People’s Forum Magazine/Online, Dr. Lusty, Managing Director/CEO of Kontz Engineering Limited, highlighted the mindset of a typical Nigerian when faced with insecurity. He noted that most people turn to spiritual powers, prayer, or physical security measures, such as policemen, rather than technology.
Dr. Lusty emphasized that security engineering technology can empower individuals to monitor and control their environment, receiving alerts and responding to security breaches. He stressed that combining technology with physical policing is crucial in addressing the growing insecurity in Nigeria.
The security expert pointed out that technology is not physical, but effective in detecting and preventing crime. He suggested deploying cameras and leveraging technology to increase the chances of arrests and reduce escape opportunities, ultimately forcing individuals to refrain from criminal activities.
Dr. Lusty urged Nigerian governments and citizens to embrace security technology to combat crime and improve safety in the society.
