The new Zonal Coordinator for Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Saidu Yusuf, visited the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on July 24, 2024.
The visit aligns with the Comptroller-General’s policy thrust on engagement and consolidation.
ACG Yusuf praised the command’s impressive performance, including spectacular seizures and rising revenue, which has reached N669 billion as of July 24, 2024.
He commended the Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, for his diligence and hard work, particularly in seizures and revenue generation.
The Zonal Coordinator announced that 18 officers, including the Command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Okwara, will receive Commendation Letters for their distinguished service.
He emphasized the need for thorough cargo examination to optimize Customs processes and safeguard national health and security.
ACG Yusuf urged officers to remain vigilant and avoid financial inducements that may compromise their judgment.
He also addressed the planned Nigeria Labour Congress protests, advising officers to be security conscious and protect Customs assets.
Comptroller Nnadi expressed hope in achieving the command’s N1.4 trillion revenue target for 2024, despite challenges with non-standard VIN valuation and PAAR acceptance.
He appreciated the Zonal Coordinator’s decision to reward 18 officers and thanked the Customs CG for his regular support.
The visit highlights the commitment to excellence and collaboration within the Nigeria Customs Service.
