The Primetime Reporters, a leading online newspaper in Nigeria’s maritime sector, has marked its 10th anniversary with a lecture and awards ceremony.
The event, which held at the Wege Centre and Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together stakeholders in the maritime industry to celebrate the newspaper’s resilience and contributions to the sector.
In his welcome address, the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Primetime Reporters, Saint Augustine, reflected on the newspaper’s journey, highlighting the challenges it faced in its early years.
He expressed gratitude to individuals and organizations that supported the newspaper, including the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA).
The theme of the event, “Leveraging Technology to Maximize the Potential of Nigeria’s Blue Economy,” was chosen to draw attention to the newest Ministry in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, and how technology can be used to maximize the potential inherent in the sector.
The event featured a lecture by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, who marshaled out his plan for the sector. Other stakeholders, including experts in technology and the blue economy, also made presentations.
The anniversary celebration was also marked with awards to deserving individuals and organizations in the maritime sector.
In conclusion, Augustine urged stakeholders to participate actively in the discussions, promising that the policy makers and Members of the National Assembly would get the communique arising from the event to guide them in shaping the Marine and Blue Economy of Nigeria’s dream.
