The Chair Lady of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) Onne chapter, Hajiya Amina Aliyu Babandede, has demonstrated exceptional kindness and generosity as the year comes to a close.
In a bid to celebrate the New Year, she donated food items, including rice, indomie, and cooking oil, to orphanages and less privileged individuals .
Furthermore, Hajiya Babandede empowered 40 widows with grinding mills and sewing machines, providing them with a means to sustain themselves and their families.
This philanthropic gesture was made possible through the COWA Onne chapter’s efforts to support vulnerable members of the community.
During the event held at the Customs House Onne on December 31, 2024, Hajiya Babandede expressed her gratitude to the President of COWA, Mrs. Kekilemo Adeniyi, for her unwavering support and commitment to the association.
She also appreciated her husband, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, for his encouragement and paternal role to all COWA members.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Customs Area Controller, Area 2 Command Onne, the Chair Lady of the Nigeria Immigration Service Wives Association Rivers State Marine Command, and representatives from various organizations.
In a show of appreciation, the Priest Hood Orphanage home, Onne, and the widows within the Ebubu Barracks community thanked Hajiya Babandede for her kindness.
In response, the Chair Lady promised to continue supporting the community in 2025 and expressed her gratitude to all attendees for gracing the event.
