The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Western Marine Command, Comptroller Patrick Ntadi, has declared his support for the 2025 Maritime Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL), organized by the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN).
MAMAL 2025: A Critical Platform
The lecture, scheduled for August 27, 2025, at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, will focus on critical issues affecting the maritime industry.
Comptroller Ntadi expressed his willingness to attend the event, citing the relevance of the topic in addressing factors contributing to the rising cost of goods in the country.
Command Facelift: A New Look
During a courtesy visit by MARAN’s Executive Council, Comptroller Ntadi showcased the command’s transformation, including:
New Look: The command’s fence and edifice have been repainted, and a new signpost is under construction.
Security Enhancement: Shanties and suspicious elements have been cleared, reducing security risks.
Infrastructure Development: Jetties are being renovated, and a new office complex is being constructed.
Anti-Smuggling Efforts
Comptroller Ntadi highlighted the command’s efforts in combating smuggling activities, including the recent seizure of 503 bags of rice and six boats used in smuggling.
MARAN’s President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, expressed the association’s commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with the command.
He assured Comptroller Ntadi of MARAN’s support in achieving his mandate.
