The newly appointed Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has held its maiden meeting in Lagos, committing to support the Agency’s Executive Management in delivering on its mandate.
Board’s Commitment
The Chairman of the Board, Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, expressed satisfaction and confidence in the current Executive Management’s ability to pilot the affairs of the Agency.
He assured that the Board would stand firmly by the Agency to help realize its mandate and actualize a robust Blue Economy in Nigeria.
Performance Bond
The Management of NIMASA has signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the Agency’s achievements.
The Board is determined to work with the Management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency.
Agency’s Commitment
The Director General/CEO of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to its core mandate of promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environment protection in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the support of the Governing Board would further strengthen NIMASA’s capacity to drive initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.
Collaboration and Vision
The NIMASA Executive Management has pledged to work closely with the Board and relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for investment, enhance maritime infrastructure, and build human capacity in the sector.
This collaboration is expected to drive the Agency’s growth and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry .
