The Lagos Free Trade Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recently held a decoration ceremony for 29 newly promoted officers, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

The officers were promoted to various ranks, including

6 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Comptroller*

5 Superintendents to Chief Superintendent*

7 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendent*

2 Assistant Superintendent I to Deputy Superintendent*

2 Assistant Superintendent II to Assistant Superintendent I*

2 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent II*

2 Assistant Inspectors to Inspector*

A Call to Greater Responsibility

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller HKA Abubakar, emphasized that promotions within the NCS are not given lightly but earned through commitment, discipline, and consistent demonstration of capacity and integrity.

She charged the promoted officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and efficiency, serving as role models and inspiring their subordinates .

Commitment to Excellence

Comptroller Abubakar reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement of Customs laws.

She expressed her firm belief that the promotion will energize the officers to contribute more diligently to the Command’s objectives, including improved revenue, compliance, and stakeholder engagement .

Appreciation and Recognition

The CAC commended all officers in the Command, assuring those not promoted that their efforts are recognized and their promotion will come in due time.

She also appreciated government agencies and stakeholders for their solidarity and collaboration, highlighting the importance of inter-agency synergy and partnership.
