The Customs Area Controller ,( CAC) Comptroller Oshoba of the Port, Apapa Lagos, has revealed that the port has recorded significant growth in trade and revenue, attributing the success to innovative reforms implemented by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service , Dr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi .
In an exclusive interview with a group of Maritime Journalists recently in his office at Apapa in Lagos. Comptroller Oshoba highlighted the impact of the Advanced Ruling System, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, and non-intrusive inspection (scanning) on trade facilitation and revenue collection.

Advanced Ruling System: Enables importers to obtain binding classification and valuation decisions before importation, reducing human contact and disputes.
AEO Program: Facilitates seamless movement of goods for compliant traders, enhancing trade efficiency.
Non-Intrusive Inspection: Scanning technology reduces human interference, increasing cargo clearance speed and security.
The Comptroller also emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, including importers, agents, and security agencies, to ensure port security and revenue growth.
He urged stakeholders to cooperate with the port management to address congestion and ensure smooth cargo movement.
Revenue Growth: The Apapa Area Command has recorded significant revenue growth, with the Comptroller attributing the success to the Command’s focus on consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.
