
The Controller of Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Comptroller Aliyu Gambo, has congratulated Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on the successful celebration of International Customs Day (ICD) 2026.
Gambo praised Adeniyi’s leadership, noting his position as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council has elevated Nigeria’s global standing .
The ICD 2026 celebration highlighted the Nigeria Customs Service’s strategic importance in national development, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, and security.
The Service’s 2025 revenue attainment of over ₦7.2 trillion surpassed its annual target, showcasing disciplined enforcement and improved compliance .
Gambo also commended the launch of the Time Release Study (TRS), a WCO tool aimed at improving cargo clearance efficiency, predictability, and transparency.
The TRS introduction is expected to enhance trade facilitation, reduce dwell time, and boost investor confidence .
