PTML Customs Applauded for Leadership Drive as Command Trains Senior Officers on Excellence, Teamwork

The Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited, PTML, Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has been commended for investing in its workforce after it successfully organised a Leadership Seminar to strengthen capacity, professionalism and teamwork among senior officers.

The seminar, held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Conference Hall of PTML Command, aligns with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.

*Leadership as Key to Service Delivery*

Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Area Controller, DC Nura Ibrahim Miko, said effective leadership is critical to achieving the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.

He noted that PTML Command remains committed to initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of officers, including the newly launched Work-Life Balance Initiative.

“This Command believes that when officers are equipped, motivated and well-led, service delivery improves and the nation benefits,” DC Miko stated.

*Capacity Building for Higher Performance*

Participants, drawn from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, were taken through practical sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct.

DC Miko delivered the first lecture titled: Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence.:

He commended officers for their active engagement and urged them to translate the lessons into improved service delivery at the port.

He also reassured stakeholders and the trading community of the Command’s unwavering commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.

In a show of appreciation for diligence, the Command presented Certificates of Excellence to:

AC J.O. Ezekuse* – Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate

CSC C.A. Ibrahim* – Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit

DC Miko said the recognition mechanism will continue to reward diligence, selflessness and efficient service delivery across the Command.

He charged all officers to keep giving their best in service to the country, noting that leadership is a collective responsibility that thrives on teamwork, discipline and empathy.

The seminar ended with stakeholders applauding PTML Command for prioritizing human capital development as a pathway to better port operations and national revenue.
