Nigeria Customs Service Seizes Expired Pharmaceuticals and Cutlasses at Apapa Port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 12 containers at the Apapa Port Command containing expired and controlled pharmaceutical products worth N1.8 billion. The Comptroller-General of Customs, in a press briefing, revealed that the seizures included tramadol, codeine, and other regulated medical items without the required National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) number. The expired pharmaceutical products, if allowed to exit the ports, would have undermined national security by fueling criminal activities.
