Nigeria Customs Service Ogun II command has on its own generated the total sum #22, 017 billion to the Federal Government coffers out of #1.5 trillion revenue target marked for the service in the year 2022
In the same vein the Command recorded highest figures in the last quarter of the year 2022 and it is to the tune of #6.05billion between October to December of 2022
The Command generated a total revenue of six billion, four
Hundred and ninety-two million, five hundred and ten thousand, six hundred and thirty-one naira, thirty-two kobo – N6,492,510,631.32.
He gave the breakdown as thus :
The total revenue collection for the first quarter ( Jan-March 2022) stood at N5,261,874.355.63
Second quarter April to June has its figures as N4,339,081,812.74
Third quarter July-Sep stood at N5,923,776,286.63 ; while the command generated N6,492,510,631.32 for last quarter, October – December, 2022.
The Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu announced this in Abeokuta on Tuesday while addressing journalists during the stakeholders meeting that was held in his office.!
The CAC stressed the fact that he took over the affairs of the Command in October and by December of the same year , the command has recorded 25.44% increase in its revenue figures when compared to the corresponding year of 2021.
DC Shuaibu attributed the success story to the collaboration with other agencies of government , who he said has greatly enhanced productivity of his Command.
He added in his words “record shows practical involvement of agencies, inter agency collaboration, networking, incidence profiling, information gathering/processing and experience shared all helped to achieved this feat by deploying massive intelligence and effective monitoring in our operations” he said.
He also characterised 2022 with several challenges in the economic and trade supply chain, but he expressed delight that the command was able to make some laudable achievement using technology-driven initiatives to maximise revenue collection, enforcement of anti-smuggling operations, export promotion and synergy with the noble stakeholders in the industry.
He mentioned the intentioned efforts of charging up the Excise revenue commands of the Customs service nationwide towards improving the more than N1.5 trillion marked revenue target is being boosted by the Ogun 11 command, because the command has contributed more than N22.017 billion into government coffers in the year 2022.
In his words: “On assumption to office, I undertook a two-week tour if the Excise factories and free trade zones (FTZ) within the Command’s jurisdiction”
“This is in tandem with our commitment to enhance collaboration among the different stakeholders in the supply chains, and subsequently improve our performance and operational relationship”
He solicited for the co-operation of various factories for prompt payment of appropriate Excise duty and other charges, he appreciated the compliant traders and encouraged them to do more in discharging their respective responsibilities.
In conclusion he applauded the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Ibrahim Hammed Ali (Rtd) CFR and the management team of NCS for giving him the opportunity to serve in his present capacity as CAC Ogun II and also
his officers and men for a job well done, not leaving out critical stakeholders for their continuous collaborative efforts and synergy with the service while carrying out their statutory mandate in Ogun State.
