The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is set to revolutionize operations at the Onne Port Complex with the implementation of an Electronic Call-Up System, following approval from the Federal Executive Council.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, NPA’s leadership, emphasized the project’s urgency during a pre-implementation visit from the system’s operators, Callup Technology Services Limited and Forge Concepts Limited.

The system aims to fast-track automation of truck traffic at Onne Port before the end of the quarter, in line with the Minister of Marine & Blue Economy’s directive.

The Managing Director stressed the importance of integrating the new system with existing and upcoming technologies, including the Port Community System (PCS) and National Single Window (NSW).

The Onne Port Complex has experienced significant growth in vessel and cargo traffic, solidifying its position as West and Central Africa’s largest Oil & Gas logistics base.

Dr. Dantsoho’s investor-friendly initiatives during his tenure as Port Manager from 2020 to 2021 have contributed to this growth.

The Electronic Call-Up System is expected to enhance efficiency, reduce congestion, and promote sustainable energy use at the port. With this project, NPA is poised to take a significant step towards modernizing Nigeria’s port operations.
