The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to transparency and fairness in promoting deserving candidates. Speaking during an inspection visit to an examination venue in Abuja on Monday, August 19, 2024, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the Service’s dedication to maintaining its high standards.
“We are committed to applying the same rigorous standards as in the previous promotion exercise, which was widely recognized for its fairness. Our goal and standard remain to ensure that every deserving candidate is promoted on merit,” he stated.
CGC Adeniyi highlighted the security measures in place to prevent malpractice and ensure the integrity of the examination process. He also acknowledged the competitive nature of the process, noting that limited vacancies for senior positions would make this cycle particularly challenging.
To ensure inclusivity, technological provisions have been made for officers posted abroad to participate in the examination simultaneously with their counterparts in Nigeria. CGC Adeniyi emphasized that promotions would be based on merit, assuring eligible officers that their performance would be fairly rewarded.
This promotion exercise is crucial to maintaining the high standards of the Service, and CGC Adeniyi vowed to identify and promote the most qualified officers.
