As the year 2024 comes to a close, the Nigeria Customs Service, Area 2 Command, Onne, has achieved significant success in revenue generation, surpassing its target of 618 billion naira by generating a total revenue of 634 billion naira.
This represents a 98% increase over the 2023 generated revenue. celebrating its remarkable achievements in the fight against smuggling and illicit trade.
The Customs Area Controller( CAC) of the Command Comptroller Mohammed Babandede reiterated that the command has successfully intercepted and seized 12 containers of illicit medicine, valued at ₦20,309,890,800.
The seized items include:
1,721,100 bottles of 100ml Cough Syrup Codeine
510,000 tablets of 50mg Really Extra Diclofenac
7,100,000 tablets of 225mg Royal apple Tramadol and Tramaking
3,461 pieces of Sanitary ware Fittings used for concealment
840 pieces of Chilly cutter used for concealment
-153 cartons of TVS rubber
Comptroller Babandede expressed gratitude towards the recognition by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, who awarded the Area 2 Command as the best Command in anti-smuggling operations.
The CAC stressed that the achievement has boosted the morale and dedication of the officers, who have pledged to continue performing their duties to protect the lives and well-being of Nigerians.
He affirmed that the command has also made significant strides in export, processing a total of 2,707,339.22 Metric tonnes of goods with a free on board (FOB) value of $952,986,490.99.
