The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has charged senior officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to mentor and guide younger officers to become better professionals.
He gave this charge during the decoration of newly appointed and promoted officers at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, January 23, 2025.
Adeniyi emphasized that senior officers must operate at a strategic level, involving themselves in decision-making and policy implementation.
He reminded them that this responsibility requires personal discipline, dedication, professionalism, and adherence to the ethics of the job .
The CGC also highlighted the importance of mentorship, stating that senior officers have a duty to share their experiences and guide younger officers.
This, he believes, will help the NCS maintain its commitment to excellence and achieve greater successes.
Newly appointed DCG Suleiman Chiroma, speaking on behalf of the newly appointed and promoted officers, expressed gratitude and assured the CGC of their loyalty and commitment to the Service.
He pledged that they would contribute positively to the successes of the Service and maintain the image of the NCS and the nation.
This ceremony follows the promotion of 4,291 senior officers on December 27, 2024, underscoring the Service’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence within its ranks .
