In a landmark achievement, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has signed the Act establishing the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, in Delta State.

High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President for this historic move .

Tompolo, in a letter to the President, stated that the signing of the Act has validated the hopes and aspirations of the people of the Niger Delta, demonstrating the President’s goodwill and commitment to the region’s growth and development.

The Nigeria Maritime University, established in 2014, had been struggling to reach its full potential due to the absence of an enabling Act.

With the President’s courageous decision, the university can now thrive, providing the necessary legal framework for its operations.

Tompolo emphasized that this move has bridged the gap in maritime education in West Africa, where Ghana was previously the only country with a Maritime University.

The establishment of the Nigeria Maritime University is expected to improve the country’s capacity and manpower in the maritime sector, bringing development to the oil and gas communities in the Niger Delta and curbing youth restiveness in the region.

Tompolo expressed his confidence that the President’s government will continue to prioritize the development of the Niger Delta .
