The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a remarkable 35% increase in revenue collection, reaching ₦1.378 trillion in the first half of 2025.
This impressive feat is attributed to the diligent efforts of officers, improved stakeholders’ compliance, and strategic leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
According to Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the Command’s Area Controller, the revenue collection milestone was made possible by plugging leakages through effective demand notices and leveraging technology, including the new B’Odogwu digital platform.
This platform enables the first-ever use of Single Goods Declaration (SGD) to streamline cargo clearance, reduce congestion, and deepen trade facilitation .
Revenue Collection: ₦1.378 trillion collected in H1 2025, representing a 35% increase from ₦1.024 trillion in H1 2024
Contraband Seizures: 27 containers intercepted with a combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦9.27 billion, including:
Unregistered Pharmaceuticals: 10 containers
Codeine Syrup: 2 containers
Stolen Vehicles: 2 containers
Used Clothing: 4 containers
Wildlife Parts: imported in violation of the CITES treaty
Modernization Efforts: Collaboration with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to revive rail cargo movement and reduce logistics costs
Intelligence Sharing: Critical force in defeating criminal networks, with commendation for sister agencies’ collaboration
The Command has also demonstrated its commitment to national security and trade facilitation, sealing three bonded terminals for various infractions and prosecuting one terminal.
Comptroller Olomu emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration with sister agencies to discharge duties effectively .
