The Port Harcourt II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has welcomed a new leader, Comptroller Aliyu M Alkali, who has taken over as the 26th Customs Area Controller.
The handover ceremony, which took place on September 10, 2025, was marked by a warm reception from stakeholders, including security agencies, terminal operators, and freight forwarders.
A Smooth Transition
The outgoing Customs Area Controller, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, handed over the leadership of the Command after a tenure marked by significant achievements.
ACG Babandede thanked officers and stakeholders for their support and cooperation, requesting continued synergy with the new leadership.
A Vote of Confidence
The Zonal Coordinator, Zone C, ACG Kamal Mohammed, praised ACG Babandede’s leadership, describing his tenure as “distinguished, visionary, and resilient.”
He welcomed Comptroller Alkali, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the Command to greater heights.
A New Chapter
Comptroller Alkali has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR.
He outlined his priorities, including ensuring compliance with trade regulations, facilitating legitimate trade, collecting revenue, and ensuring public safety.
The new CAC has called for continuous collaboration with stakeholders to sustain the Command’s achievements.
With Comptroller Alkali at the helm, the Port Harcourt II Customs Command is poised for a new era of growth, discipline, and excellence.
