LAGOS, SEPT 21, 2026— The war against corruption may have just gained a new weapon — the media.

Executive members of the Media Anti-Corruption Initiative, MACI, led by its President, Mr. Funso Olojo, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos Zonal Office of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, to strengthen collaboration against corruption.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday, September 21, 2026, was aimed at exploring strategic partnership in tackling corruption and related offences.

*We Align With ICPC — MACI*
Speaking during the meeting, MACI President, Funso Olojo, said MACI is a non-governmental organization committed to fighting corruption and discouraging public participation in corrupt practices.

He explained that as an advocacy group, MACI conducts awareness campaigns and seminars to educate Nigerians on the damaging effects of corruption on the economy and society.

Olojo noted that MACI’s objectives align closely with those of the ICPC, hence the need for collaboration for more effective and objective reporting on corruption-related issues.

He disclosed that MACI plans to establish mechanisms for monitoring corruption-related activities and reporting findings to relevant authorities for action.

“Our objectives align with ICPC’s mandate. We want to partner for more effective, objective reporting and monitoring of corruption,” Olojo said.

*ICPC Welcomes Partnership*
Responding, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Lagos Zonal Office, Mr. Chukwurah Alexander, praised MACI members for their dedication to the anti-corruption cause.

He acknowledged the crucial role of the media in ICPC’s awareness and prevention campaigns, and expressed satisfaction with the growing relationship between the two bodies.

Alexander said the ICPC values partnerships that amplify anti-corruption messages and promote transparency.

Both organizations agreed that the collaboration will enhance collective efforts in fighting corruption and foster a more transparent and accountable society.

The meeting ended with a commitment to deepen engagement and develop joint initiatives to tackle graft.
