Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has handed over 15 newly procured gun boats to the Nigerian Armed Forces in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s maritime defense and curbing criminal activity in the Niger Delta and coastal waters.
The handover ceremony took place at the Nigerian Navy Boatyard in Port Harcourt on Thursday, with seven vessels presented to the Nigerian Army and eight to the Nigerian Navy.
The company, headquartered in Effurun, Delta State, specializes in protecting Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure through pipeline protection, paramilitary escort, and advanced surveillance operations.
Officials said the new gun boats will enhance joint operations against oil theft, piracy, smuggling, and other maritime crimes.
Military officials, Tantita representatives, and Rivers State dignitaries attended the commissioning, which highlighted the role of public-private collaboration in securing Nigeria’s waterways.
Speakers at the event stressed that the deployment would improve surveillance, rapid response, and deterrence against threats to national economic assets.
They noted that equipping both the Army and Navy with modern gun boats would boost operational readiness and create safer conditions for commercial and civilian vessels navigating the region.
Nigeria’s maritime domain has long faced challenges from illegal bunkering, smuggling, and piracy. With this intervention, Tantita Security Services said it aims to reinforce military capacity and support efforts to safeguard the nation’s maritime corridor.
